It’s Tuesday and time for another Runway Inspired Challenge. We’re using a cool Maxine Simoens look for inspiration and adding a twist to honor Fat Quarter Shop, our sponsors: use fabric in your card. The mosaic look to jacket is a natural for paper, but the extra requirement really turned this into a challenge.

I really wanted to focus on those little squares of color and found a great relaxed square grid image in the Silhouette store that would let a bit of fabric peek out. I even found the perfect colors in a bit of satin paisley fabric at my local fabric store. But when it came time to cut my shape, I couldn’t find my cutting mats. I turned my studio upside down looking for them, and instead of giving up on my design, I printed the grid and cut it out with a craft knife.

The result was definitely worth the extra work. I hope you’ll find some fabric and challenge yourself with a little runway inspiration this week.
