Now it’s time for another, full of bold, playful color. I loved all kinds of things about this little number from Anna Sui’s Fall 2012 collection: the playful pink mixed with more subdued reds and blues, the floral print, the deep red velvet ruffles, the funky critter hat that looks like something out of a Gap Kids ad, and even the giant sky blue circus letters in the background.
I focused my card on that owl-like hat, but also brought in the colors and floral print. I just couldn’t say no to that that cobalt blue.
The construction is straight-forward with just three layers: the base, the label, and the owl. And if you want to do more masking, you wouldn’t need an extra layer for the owl. (Making the owl separately also gives you an opportunity to try out different color combinations without committing to them on your final piece.) I did just a tiny bit of masking to add extra leaves, but otherwise let my stamps do all the work.
I can’t wait to see what everyone else makes with this playful look as inspiration. Are you up for the challenge this month?
