Although I spent half of Sunday making cards at a shoebox swap with the always fabulous Liz Ballard and friends, I couldn’t resist making at least one more in honor of World Card Making Day. It has a few sources of inspiration:
- All of the rain we had this weekend, at home and on the golf course in Connecticut.
- The adorable cards and pretty colors in the Lawnscaping World Card Making Day challenge gallery.
- And most importantly, this week’s One-Layer Wednesday, where we were challenged to create a card inspired by Janelle, an incredible member of our one-layer community who has been sharing her fight with cancer on her blog. I chose her Cheer up, Buttercup card for it’s lovely colors, happy message, and soft watercolor feeling.
To create my version, I started by inking and spraying the umbrella with water before stamping it on my card. The sentiment, in gray, came next. Then I masked the top of the umbrella before giving the entire card a gentle spray of Mister Huey’s in the new Dewey color. It really is the perfect shade for rain.
And if it’s raining where you are, maybe a little blogiversary gift will cheer you up. I’m giving away a couple presents, including a brand new Market Street stamp set, to celebrate my 10th blogiversary, but you have to put your name in by Wednesday morning.

I’m Sarah Jay.
