Hi there! Welcome back for another day of inspiration using the Lil’ Inker Designs new holiday release. The team has a lot of fantastic projects to share during today’s hop, which starts at the Lil’ Inker Designs blog. If you’re following along, Karen Baker just shared a gorgeous card on your last stop.
And I have something to share that doesn’t use any paper at all.
Can I just say, right off the bat, how much I love these little Christmas Bits dies?!
I fell in love with the gingerbread man on first sight. Holiday baking is one of my favorite things about the season, especially the cute cookies. I even had a cookie themed tree with tiny kitchen utensils, faux cookies, tiny baking elves, and lots of gingham ribbon back before I had kids and a tree big enough to compete with a vaulted ceiling. It’s no surprise then that these dies became an easy garland that I can hang in my kitchen this year.
I used fun foam for my garland because it’s kid-friendly, easy to die cut, and shows off the stitching detail from the dies. Wool felt would be a beautiful choice too, especially if you’re willing to hand-stitch around the edges of the dies. I cranked out a few dozen hearts and gingerbread men, then set to work sandwiching adhesive and the heavy baker’s twine between two of each die cut. It didn’t take anywhere near as long as I expected and it turned out even cuter than I’d hoped. Which makes me one happy crafter.
And did you know that fun foam comes in adhesive backed sheets? I could have saved myself even more time with that little tidbit. This would be cute with just about any symmetrical die cut, like the stitched circles or stars. Or in colors to match a birthday party. I’m getting giddy just thinking about it.
But before I go off on another tangent, I want to send you off to Suzanne’s blog for more Lil’ Inker inspiration. Just don’t forget to leave comments along the hop so that you’ll be entered to win one of the two $10 gift certificates we’re giving away this week.
See you back here tomorrow for one last day of holiday fun!
