If Its Not One...

Its the other. I got the Mac working only to break the PC that Liz set up for me yesterday. Well, it works, but its not properly on the network so that I can use the exchange server. Thanks to Jake (one of our summer workstudy students who also happens to work for Helpdesk) I've got a ticket online and a promise to be back up and running today or Tuesday. Yay. Then I'll be just about finished playing with them. I still need to install a few programs like Photoshop.

Finally

I'm out. Tonight I finished moving all of my junk out of the old apartment. And I cleaned. The keys are on the counter and I won't have to go back. I think leaving that apartment behind is one of the better things I've done. It feels so good to be rid of it and its baggage.

Stupid Mac

Grrr. No matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall Office X it still finds Troy's product key. And that means that if Troy is using Office, I can't. It won't even ask me for my key. The book I got raves about how OS X lets you focus on your tasks, not the computer. Yeah right. It feels like I'm butting my head against a brick wall. You wouldn't think it would be a big deal to change the lisence, but the support is non-existant.

Bronzed

This is going to sound strange and trivial, but the lighting in the office makes me look very tan. I have gotten some sun over the past few weeks, but not enough to make me look anything other than less white. I know its silly, but its kind of neat too.

Take Two

Here I am, nearly half way through my second day, and still feeling like I should be doing more. Half the time I think the work studies know more tham I do, but then I realize that we were hired for different reasons. Its getting better and better though. I'm starting to feel like I belong.

Today's Fortune

Accept the next proposition you hear.
Interesting. Should I? And what will it be?

Day One

Its the end of my first day at my new job as a Web Developer at WPI. So far I haven't done much work, but I have a project to work on. I spent the majority of the day getting acclimated - filling out HR forms, meeting Library and CCC staff, and learning to use Mac OS X. I have to admit that I will be lucky if I remember the names of half the people I met today. My first order of business is finding a good book for OS X. I can't wait to come in tomorrow morning.

Why Should I Care?

Everything wasn't ok I was left to cry there
waiting outside there grinning with a lost stare
That's when I decided
Why should I care
Cuz you weren't there when I was scared I was so alone

Online

I've been back in Worcester for a few days, but now I'm finally online. Our wireless network is up and running, and thanks to Jon and his extra wireless card, I'm using it too. I should probably update the journal, but I figure I'll have plenty of time to do that later. For now, I have errands to run.

In Like Flynn

I'm pretty settled in the new place. 95% of the painting is done and boxes are beginning to disappear. There are only a few bits and pieces left on John Street and I'm glad. I'll be so happy to bring that chapter of my life to a close. I wanted to move slowly, but once the distractions were gone I didn't want to be there anymore. Too many bad memories... It stopped being comfortable a long time ago.

Long Time Gone

Life is rough without Internet access. But I'm back for a while.
I finally made it to Michigan. For a while I thought I wasn't - when I went for a pre-trip oil change I found out that my car had a coolant leak. So, I wasn't supposed to drive very much or very far until they could fix it on May 19. In the meantime, I had to cancel my trip. In the end, I went to another dealership outside of Worcester and got it fixed within two days. On the plus side, Jon took an earlier flight out of Georgia because I was still around and I got to see him. So, I got to see my boy and go home.

Escape Artist

Tia escaped last night while Jon and I were painting. When I realized that I hadn't seen her for a while, I started looking for her. After I couldn't find her inside, I started to panic. So I called outside. She was sitting out there in the rain, under the bushes. I think it freaked her out a bit. Now I have to make sure we lock her in the bathroom or something when we're running in and out with boxes and furniture.

That Martha

Martha Stewart has finally caught onto the glass marble magnet trend. She's light years behind Not-Martha and countless other crafty chics on the Internet, I might add. Even I'm ahead of the curve on this one. Regardless, its a great and easy craft idea.
