28th Birthday Update

  • I turned 28 last Friday. Or 7, depending on whether you count birthdays or years. Honestly, 28 doesn't feel any different than 27. It just doesn't have have same significance as say, 18. It does, however, remind me that I'm just two years from turning 30. And that, my friends, is a pretty big milestone and goal year for me.
  • Presenting... I received what is quite possibly the biggest and best birthday present ever from Jon on Friday. After making an awesome dinner (roasted chicken and assorted root vegetables) he took me to the Apple store in Salem to pick out a new laptop. I picked out the 13-inch, 2.4GHz MacBook. Not a Pro, but I reasoned that the extra money required for a pro could be better spent on a good copy of Photoshop. The MacBook is lightning fast and just delightful. I had forgotten how simple and effortless it was to use one. I imported my music collection (over 8 gigs) in a matter of minutes and was able to flip through all of our vacation photos without waiting for each single image to load. I think I'm in love.
  • Weighty Issues: No positive or negative scale movement lately. Something tells me that it has a lot to do with all of the rich food associated with birthday celebrations. Like that ridiculously tasty Raspberry cheesecake that Jon brought home on Friday. Or the donut I let myself get for breakfast the day before.Or the Indian food a stuffed myself with while we were out on Saturday night.
  • Cardtastic! I've really been inspired to make cards lately. And I don't know whether it's all of the great cards I received from my fellow A Muse Addicts or just the weather, but something's infectious. I've been selling a few a week too, but my former boss and big fan just left the company, so I need to find a way to supply her. The obvious answer is Etsy. Just need to find the inspiration and motivation to set it up, as usual.
  • Speaking of Motivation... I was incredibly motivated to make beautiful thank you cards last weekend and had 10 of them by the time I was done. I've been carting them back and forth to work, but do you think I've had an opportunity to actually write or address even one of them? Not a chance. I'm going to take them with me on Saturday and force myself to write them before I can start scrapping. This could be the first time in years that I get proper thank yous sent out.
