I had a lot of ideas when I sat down to make a holiday card for today’s Extravaganza. More than I could fit on one card. So I made two, using the same stamps and layouts, but different styles. First, my clean and simple, frosted latte card. The aqua card base is stamped with Concord & 9th’s Tree Ring with white ink. Then a cool blue mug, from Lil’ Inker Designs’ Latte Love set, perched atop snowflake and stitched sentiment flag die cuts.

This version uses a more traditional Christmas color scheme of deep red, ivory, blush, and tan and texture to make the style more rustic. I stamped the same tree ring onto a craft card base with Versamark ink. I clustered a few lonely scraps and die cuts on the card and stamped a sentiment from Latte Love. Then I made my mug with Merlot Fresh Ink and topped it with fussy cut holly from Lil’ Inker Designs Festive Florals stamps set.

It’s amazing how a few small changes can make such a difference in the final product.

It’s not a party without a prize – and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is generously supplied by Waffle Flower Crafts so you’ll definitely want to win! 25 Days of Christmas Tags

It’s November and that means it’s time for Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags blog hop extravaganza. Today’s sponsor is Lil’ Inker Designs, so I just had to whip up a little tag using some of my favorite LID products. But make sure you check out all of the details on Tracey’s blog, because there are prizes at stake, and an invitation to join the month-long link up.

The tag base is made with double-sided patterned paper and the Folding Tag die. Now, any folded die cut exposes a few rough edges (especially if you’re working with scarred cutting mats), but when you use a busy patterned paper, those little imperfections disappear. These tags make perfect pockets for little cash gifts! I topped my tag with the festive Moody Santa and added a snarky sentiment from the Santa’s brand new sequel, Rowdy Reindeer.

That’s all for me today, but there is enough tag inspiration on the hop to keep you crafting all month!

Lil’ Inker Designs October Blog Hop: Day 3

This week is flying by and so is the Lil’ Inker Designs blog hop. It’s already the last day! We released a bunch of new products this week, and I still have a huge stack of cards I can’t wait to share. But first I need to make sure you have the details on our hop. It starts at the Lil’ Inker Designs blog, continues through Lisa Henke’s blog, before landing you here. And one lucky person who leaves a comment on our blog hop posts will win the entire October release.

First up, little winter sparkle! I’ve already had to break out the snow gear here in Colorado, so this crystalline beauty doesn’t feel too far off. I kicked off my crafting for this release by making stencils with the new Geometric Snow Cover Up die and getting messy with a few sheets of paper. This card uses Bo Bunny glitter paste in Sugar for the sparkling background. The paste is transparent, full of iridescent glitter, and absolutely gorgeous. I topped the base with a vellum panel stamped with some of the greenery and berries from Festive Florals. Then topped the panel with the poinsettias from Festive Florals, embossed in white on pale aqua card stock, and dotted with more iridescent glitter. The final touch was a white Thanks cut with our Everyday Word Tag dies.

LID_Christmas Words Tree DieI made a few extra backgrounds with my Geometric Snow stencils, including this one made with Distress Oxide inks and Perfect Pearls mist. I set it aside for later.

During my messy day, I also made a stencil from the new Christmas Words Tree die and attempted to make a simple, inky, one-layer card with it. I succeeded, but the layers of shimmering spray mist photographed like absolute crap. I mean, the card itself is a rich green with layers of shimmering mint and pearl with golden gems. It just looks like baby poop full of cheap rhinestones on the computer screen.

So I set about making a new card to showcase this die. And couldn’t stop once I started digging through my seasonal and specialty papers. The shimmering background above got tossed in. Then an adorable strung popcorn printed paper I’ve been hoarding. And a farmhouse chic woodgrain. A scrap of die cut vellum. Then a few specialty velvets. Glitter paper. And oh the foils…

Seriously. This die is so simple and modern, but its clean lines means it plays well with all kinds of styles. And it’s perfect for mass production with little variations to keep things from getting boring.

That’s it for me for this release, but that just means it’s time to shop! So head over to Lil’ Inker Designs store to see all the new products. And don’t forget to leave a comment here for a chance to win all of it!

Lil’ Inker Designs October Blog Hop: Day 2

The Lil’ Inker Designs blog hop is into its second day and I’m sharing projects made with the new release. But before I tell you about them, I need to tell you that today’s hop starts at the Lil’ Inker Designs blog. If you’re following the hop, Lisa Henke’s blog was your last stop. We’re also doing a big giveaway: one lucky visitor who comments on all of the blog hop posts this week will win the entire new release.

LID_Noel Word DieFirst up is a quick and simple card made with the new Noel word die. I started by covering my card base with patterned paper die cut with the largest Dual Stitched Rectangle die. Then I made a short stack of patterned paper and card stock with the Noel die that I layered over a few pieces of torn vellum. I finished it with a gold glitter dot.

I love the size and style of this die because it can hold it’s own on a simple card base and makes really clean and simple cards that are easy to mass produce. One small pack of 6×6 paper paired with this die could yield a couple dozen of these cards!

Sticking with the deer theme, I pulled out this year’s hilarious followup to our popular Naughty Santa stamp set: Rowdy Reindeer. I felt like doing a little no-line coloring, so I just die cut the reindeer and used Copic markers to color him. Then I stamped the Christmas Calories sentiment onto my stitched panel and added my little deer. I used part of the new Joy to the World stamp set and Versamark ink to create a patterned card base.

That’s everything for today, but I’ll be back tomorrow with more cards. Until then, head over to Lil’ Inker Designs shop to get your hands on these fun new stamps and dies. And don’t forget to leave a comment at every stop for a chance to win our entire release!

Lil’ Inker Designs October Blog Hop: Day 1

Hey there! And welcome to the first day of the Lil’ Inker Designs October Blog Hop.

There are loads of new products to share this week, so here’s the scoop: all of the new products are now available in the shop, the blog hop starts on the Lil’ Inker Designs blog, and we’re giving away the entire release to one lucky visitor who comments on all of the stops on our hop. Sounds pretty good, right?

If you’re following along, Lisa Henke’s blog was the last stop.

Maybe it’s something about living in a new house, but I’ve been craving minimalism lately. My life is the farthest thing from minimalist, but I still crave it. And that means it’s turning up in my cards instead. This card is all about the gorgeous Vintage Christmas Wreath stamp set. The main image is a beauty, and lends itself to watercoloring. I tried leaving it in plain, like a botanical engraving, but ended up using three different kinds of sparkle to add shine. There’s clear Jelly Roll pen, clear Wink of Stella, and Rock Candy Stickles highlighting the different elements. To go with the more minimalist look, I chose to stamp one of the smaller sandwich sentiments on it’s own with a lot of white space.

Next up is a card featuring the Season’s Greetings stamp set. I just love these critters! The frame is large enough to stand alone on a card, but the heads are still small enough to hang out on a tag. I chose to use both on this card, highlighting one of my stamped dogs with color and a stamped and paper pieced frame.

That’s everything for today, but I’ll be back tomorrow with more cards. Until then, head over to the Lil’ Inker Designs shop to check out the new release. And don’t forget to leave a comment at every stop on the hop for a chance to win our entire release!
